Citi Community Intern Program Recognition Ceremony 2010-11

On 6 Oct 2011, around 120 guests and students from the business schools of 8 local universities attended the Recognition Ceremony of Citi Community Intern Program (CIP) 2010-11 to witness the fruition of the program. The ceremony was officiated by The Honorable Matthew Cheung, GBS, JP, Secretary for Labour and Welfare of the HKSAR Government, Mr Shengman Zhang, Citi Country Officer for Hong Kong, Mr Kennedy Liu, Chairperson of The Hong Kong Council of Social Service and Ms Christine Fang, Chief Executive of The Hong Kong Council of Social Service.

From April 2011 to August 2011, 70 business students from eight local universities completed their internship in pairs at 35 non-profit organizations (NGOs) in Hong Kong, putting their ideas and hands to action in real-life projects. This resulted the students with a better understanding of the non-profit sector as well as the issues that our community is facing. In the ceremony, 4 teams of interns were awarded “Award for Excellence” for their outstanding performance in the program. They were also invited to share their achievements and learning of the internship at the ceremony.

Sponsored by Citi and co-organized by the Hong Kong Council of Social Service (HKCSS), CIP is the cross-sector collaboration between business, non-profit and academic sectors to help NGOs achieve their goals while preparing students to be active participants in community development. This innovative program aims to nurture Hong Kong’s future business leaders to be more caring and responsible individuals.
