MTR Corporation (MTR), one of the Caring Company Patron’s Club members, launched the “More Time Reaching Community” employee volunteering scheme (the Scheme) since 2005 to strengthen MTR’s commitment to the community as well as to staff. Under the programme, staff are encouraged to initiate, organise and take part in volunteering activities based on their own interests. In 2014, 245 community projects were organised under the “More Time Reaching Community” Scheme involving over 6,000 volunteers.

To promote elderly-friendly community, MTR formed an elderly-friendly focus group through HKCSS platform and organised regular meetings with different stakeholders in order to improve services that meet the needs of the elderly passengers.
Focus group meetings will be held twice a year and irregular inspections on elderly-friendly measures will be arranged at MTR stations. Focus group members comprised of MTR staff, NGOs representatives and elderly representatives.
Besides, MTR organised a customer service training to front line staff on “How to provide assistance to elderly passengers”, through connection with HKCSS and The Hong Kong Society for the Aged.

In order to encourage more MTR staff to participate in voluntary works, MTR cooperated with The Hong Kong Council of Social Service (HKCSS) to organise a number of lunch-time experience sharing sessions to MTR staff since 2009, aiming at raising their awareness of social needs and understanding more about volunteering.

MTR Community Recruitment was successfully held in Tin Shui Wai Station on 24-25 September. In addition to external recruitment through the normal channels, MTR invited HKCSS Agency Members to participate in the recruitment as partners assisting to refer the people living in Yuen Long, Tuen Mun, Tin Shui Wai and nearby areas to attend the job fair so to expose themselves to more job opportunities. HKCSS, being the Programme Partner of the Community Recruitment, assisted in recruiting NGOs for the programme.

Through the Caring Company platform, over 10 social service organisations joined the "More Time Reaching Community" Scheme Lunch-time Experience Sharing Sessions organised by MTR Corporation with over 300 employees participated.
