Single parent families face heavy economic burden, especially for those who have to take care of their family members alone that would affect their employability. The demand for public support has become great and need more attention. Recently, over 31,000 single parent families have been receiving Comprehensive Social Security Assistance (CSSA).
In order to relieve burden of single parent families and to advocate family harmony, The Hong Kong and China Gas Company Limited (Towngas), HKCSS, The Salvation Army and CookEasy (Social Enterprise of Tung Wah Group of Hospital) launched a Fresh Food Assistance Programme for the single parent families who are receiving CSSA.

The Hong Kong and China Gas Company Limited collaborated with the Hong Kong Council of Social Service to launch the "Concession Scheme for Low Income Families" in January 2011 for low income households receiving CSSA in order to ease their financial burden.
